A Mac mini that shows no sign of life has usually suffered a power supply or logic board failure, often after a power cut or surge. We diagnose which it is before quoting.
Common faults
- No power at all (check the power supply first)
- Damage after a lightning strike or power surge
- Dead USB, Thunderbolt or HDMI ports
- T2 start-up faults on the 2018 model
- Failed power circuits on M1, M2 and M4 boards
Your data
On the 2010–2014 minis the drive is separate, so data isn’t at risk. From 2018 onwards the storage is encrypted and tied to the board, so repairing the board is how we keep it.

Price
From £165 + VAT for non-complex board repairs. Complex repairs (liquid, lightning or GPU faults) from £285 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.

Yes. Many of the minis we repair failed after a power surge, and a basic surge-protected extension lead costs very little.
